Egg Production
In 1996, Dave returned from the United States to join the family business. The farm later relocated to Currys Post, where the business continued to expand under the Teichmann Eggs name.
In 2000, Dave and Jenny purchased the farm from his parents and have continued building on the family legacy ever since. Today the operation has grown from approximately 5,000 laying hens to more than 92,000 birds across farms in Currys Post and Umlaas. The farm also rears its own point-of-lay pullets, giving complete oversight of flock development and ensuring a consistent supply of high-quality eggs to Midlands Eggs.
Midlands Eggs & The Teichmanns
Dave Teichmann and Derek Ross spent many years marketing eggs throughout KwaZulu-Natal. After countless conversations—many of them after a game of squash—they recognised the opportunity to achieve more by working together than by competing.
That partnership led to the formation of Midlands Eggs in 2011, combining the strengths of their family businesses into a single packing and marketing operation that today supplies retailers and food service customers across KwaZulu-Natal and beyond.
