Wezco Farm

WEZCO FARM

The Smit Family

Wez grew up in Creighton before his family relocated to Howick, where they established a sawmilling business. After attending Howick High School, he studied Nature Conservation at Saasveld before returning home to work alongside his father, helping establish and manage a new sawmill.

Driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, Wez later started his own sawmilling business before purchasing his first farm in 2012. A year later he married Pam, beginning a new chapter that would ultimately lead to the establishment of Wezco Farm.

Egg Production

In 2017, Wez and Pam purchased their farm in the Dargle Valley and established Wezco Farm from the ground up. Since then, the business has grown to a flock of more than 78,000 laying hens through continued investment in modern facilities and technology.

By rearing their birds from day-old chicks through to point of lay, Wezco Farm maintains complete oversight of flock development, producing healthy, high-performing laying hens. Today, the farm is a trusted supplier to Midlands Eggs, providing a reliable supply of high-quality eggs.

THE FARMERS

Wez & Pam

Pam grew up on farms, studied Agricultural Economics at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, and gained experience in both finance and the animal feed industry before returning to farming.

Today she manages the farm’s administration and sheep enterprise, while Wez oversees the day-to-day operation and continued development of the business.
