The next generation

Since taking over the management of Merrivale Poultry in 2022, Tyron has focused on modernising the farm while building on the strong foundation established by previous generations. Under his leadership, three fully automated layer sheds have been constructed, replacing the original open-sided houses and significantly increasing production efficiency and bird performance.

Major infrastructure investments have strengthened the farm’s water supply, backup power systems and operational resilience. Continued improvements in biosecurity, vaccination programmes, flock management and preventative maintenance have further enhanced bird health, production performance and the long-term sustainability of the business.

Tyron & Jess

Tyron returned to Merrivale Poultry in 2022 to lead the family farm founded by his father, Derek Ross, co-founder of Midlands Eggs. Together with his wife, Jess, they continue the family’s commitment to producing high-quality eggs while investing in the future of the farm. They welcomed their son, John, in January 2025, representing the next generation of the Ross family’s farming legacy.
