THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE EGGS
Meet our
Farmers
MERRIVALE POULTRY
Tyron & Jess
Tyron Ross returned to Merrivale Poultry in 2022 to lead the family farm founded by his father, Derek Ross, co-founder of Midlands Eggs. Together with his wife, Jess, they continue the family’s commitment to producing high-quality eggs and maintaining the values on which Midlands Eggs was built. As one of the founding farms of Midlands Eggs, Merrivale Poultry continues to play an important role in delivering consistent quality and reliable supply.
CRANWELL FARM
Dave & Jenny
Dave Teichmann is a co-founder of Midlands Eggs. In 2000, Dave and his wife, Jenny, purchased Cranwell Farm from his parents and have continued to grow the business ever since. What began as a 5,000-bird operation has expanded to approximately 92,000 laying hens across their Howick and Umlaas farms. As a founding supplier to Midlands Eggs, Cranwell Farm continues to play a vital role in delivering consistent, high-quality eggs to customers across the region.
HIGHVELD FARM
Craig & Vicky
Craig and Vicky founded Highveld Farm in 2009, starting with just 40 laying hens in their backyard. By the end of their first year, the flock had grown to 400 birds. Today, the farm is home to approximately 35,000 laying hens, producing around 25,000 eggs every day.
Highveld Farm is dedicated exclusively to cage-free egg production, supplying Midlands Eggs with premium barn and free-range eggs. As a diversified farming enterprise, the farm also raises Angus cattle, Dorper sheep and free-range pigs, with regenerative farming practices forming an integral part of the business.
PETLIN FARM - KOKSTAD
Matt & Paula
Peter and Linda established Petlin Farm’s egg production business in 1996, steadily expanding the operation while investing in modern housing and automation. The family produces its own feed on the farm to ensure consistent quality and carefully balanced nutrition for their laying hens.
Matt and Paula joined the business in 2018 and have continued its growth, increasing the flock to more than 110,000 laying hens. Today, Petlin Farm is a valued supplier to Midlands Eggs, providing a reliable supply of high-quality eggs from Kokstad.
WEZCO FARM
Pam & Wez
Wez and Pam established Wezco Farm in the Dargle Valley in 2017, building the business from the ground up. Since then, the farm has grown to a flock of more than 78,000 laying hens through continued investment in modern facilities and technology.
